ROKHANA SAHAR (روښانه سحر) Foundation
‘Rokhana Sahar’ is a Pashto language word (روښانه سحر) which means bright morning. Rokhana Sahar offers a fresh start, hope and opportunities for underprivileged students.
The founding members of Rokhana Sahar came together with the intent to give back to their community by contributing towards education of the underprivileged youth.
OUR MISSION
The mission of Rokhana Sahar is educational support for underprivileged students through:
- Financial support towards school expenses, basic health needs and clothing
- Financial support for the child’s family, as needed, if determined to be an obstacle in achieving the child’s educational aspirations
- Provide mentorship towards future educational needs, career path and tutoring as needed
- Provide support towards social and mental development of the child.
OUR APPROACH
Rokhana Sahar runs its operations through volunteers including an executive board and local mentors. The board envisions and implements the overall operations of the organization to achieve its objectives. It reaches out to local mentors in Pakistan who help identify students as candidates for scholarships. The potential candidates are reviewed and awarded scholarships according to thescholarship award criteria. The mentors review the progress of the selected students on a regular basis. Based on the feedback, the board members devise a plan to nurture the students for achieving their goals.
